Bird's Nest

The absolute best viewpoint if you're looking for seclusion and relaxation. This hidden gem is located right on the Angeles Crest Highway. Although it's a little out of the way and inconvenient, the amazing view and atmosphere of the point makes it completely worth it. Getting to Bird's Nest is relatively easy and simple. All you have to do is drive straight up the Angeles Crest Highway, for around 3-4 miles, until you see an open shoulder on the left side of the road leading to a dirt path called Hoyt Mtn. Rd. (it's on google maps). Once there, you just walk up the trail for around 5 minutes and you'll come across a huge water tank with a conveniently placed rail guard acting like a ladder. The view is amazing. Atop Bird's Nest, a huge stretch of the Angeles Crest Highway is visible. Since Bird's Nest facing east, if you get there early enough you can catch the beautiful LA sunrise.
